He graduated in Chemistry with a grade of 110/110 cum laude from the University of Pavia. From 1979 to 31.12.92 he was a Technical Officer at the Faculty of Engineering of the same university and from 1984 he was Director of the Chemical Laboratory of the Pavia University Water Research Centre. On 1.1.93 he took up his post at the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering as a University Researcher. Since academic year 1999/2000, he has been attached to the Department of General Chemistry at the University of Pavia. Passed out of tenure from 1.10.2019, he also held the position of Adjunct Professor of Environmental Analytical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Pavia. With regard to scientific aspects, he has carried out his research activity both at the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering of the University of Pavia, participating in research programmes financed by the C.N.R. and the Ministry for Universities and Scientific and Technological Research, and at the Departments of Chemistry of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Genoa and of General Chemistry of the University of Pavia. He is the author of over one hundred publications at national and international level. Among his various research topics he has dealt in particular with processes for the diffusion of pollutants into the environment and their removal - chemical-physical treatments for the removal of nitrogen in ammoniacal form from highly concentrated wastewater by stripping with air in bubble and filling reactors - recovery and methods for reusing the thermal energy produced by cogenerators running on biogas or methane - development of chemical control systems for anaerobic industrial wastewater treatment processes - development of analytical techniques for the quantification of tracers for studying the fluid dynamics of biological reactors: influence of measurement error on fluid-dynamic parameters - diffusion of organic and inorganic micropollutants into groundwater and the environment - theoretical and experimental studies on the formation and chemical characteristics of leachate in controlled landfills for municipal and industrial solid waste - experimentation and development of elution tests capable of emulating the chemical characteristics of landfill leachates - an experiment on chemical procedures for the selective extraction and precipitation of metals from industrial waste - characterisation of RDF.
