Full Professor of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering at the University of Brescia, DICATAM. Graduated with honours in Civil Engineering at the University of Brescia. She holds a PhD in Sanitary and Environmental Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano. She is the author of over 80 publications referenced in Scopus or Web of Science with an H-index of 20 and over 300 publications including conference proceedings and book chapters. Since 1997, she has carried out research activities on the following topics: (1) drinking water treatments (advanced oxidation technologies, control of disinfection by-products, removal of specific compounds e.g. arsenic, cyanobacteria, cyanotoxins, nitrates, pathogens, etc.); (2) assessment of drinking water safety in water supply systems; (3) circular solutions for industrial solid waste management/recovery; (4) assessment of the environmental behaviour of industrial waste reused in the construction sector (pollutant leaching, ecotoxicity, risk analysis). She has been supervisor or co-reporter of thesis es of more than 100 students and more than 20 PhD students. She has participated in, or coordinated 25 nationally and internationally funded research projects. She is the director of CeTAmb, Centre for Research on Appropriate Technologies for Environmental Management in Resource Constrained Countries. She is director of the Laboratory of Environmental Health Engineering (DICATAM) and of the Interdepartmental B+Labnet 'Laboratory for Environment, Health and Sustainability' of the University of Brescia.
