Seminar of the Working Group 'Water Treatment Plant Management'
Mixed mode (presence + remote)
Increasing pressures on our water resources are leading to problems of water scarcity and deterioration of water quality. Climate change, unpredictable weather conditions and droughts are contributing significantly to the depletion of freshwater reserves for agriculture and urban development.
As a result of the situation that has arisen recently, the issue of the re-use of purified water (for irrigation but also industrial purposes) coming out of treatment plants has become topical again.
The reuse of water for irrigation purposes plays a central role in the management of water resources and can help promote the circular economy by recovering nutrients from refined water and applying them to crops through fertigation techniques. The reuse of water could thus potentially reduce the need for supplementary applications of mineral fertiliser.
In this seminar, the topic of wastewater reuse will be addressed, knowing full well that technically ready solutions are available today for concrete application.
